Perhaps many users who know that the intel platform Ltanium is the source of controversy for some time ago.
Even with all the attention that the Xeon and Itanium processors increasingly, it looks like Intel plans to add another set of chips for a range of servers, though this one already exists, although it is used for consumer products.
On the one hand, Oracle dropped support for it and say that the chip will not last for longer, whereas, on the other hand, Intel and HP expressed and reinforced that they will.
Recently, Intel is really delivered some 10-core processor, but even with this new Xeon, clothes still say that Itanium will go.
If the latest report from ZDNet is to be believed, Santa Clara, California-based chip developer wants Atom chip to the service such a system as well.
According to Boyd Davis, general manager of Intel’s server marketing
“The Xeon went to 20 Watts, but we will not force customers who want to use the Intel architecture to go to another place. We will leave a hole if we do not have the Atom-based products. The space is underserved, so we will ensure that we have a product for the customer . The first server products optimized cost will come from Intel. ”
