ColorFire has completed its own version of the graphics card that features a specially designed PCB and cooling solution, built with extreme overclockers in mind.Although there are a few more days to go until AMD officially released the Radeon HD 6790 graphics card
The card has the name because Xstorm HD 6790 features the same cooling solution used by ColorFire Xstorm HD 6870 we detailed yesterday.
Xstorm card also gets a custom-printed circuit board (PCB) as well as some overclocking features are quite interesting.
For Xstorm HD 6790, this means that the graphics card is now activated by a 4 +1 phase power supply, each phase is made by R47 ferrite chokes, three MOSFETs and capacitors Japan NCC, and that it packs a special OCP Unlocker DIP switches.
Furthermore, the solution also got ColorFire metal backplate designed for rigid PCB board when used extreme cooling solutions, such as dry ice or LN2 pots, as well as dual-BIOS design.
This allows the user to switch between regular frequency card and a second operation which weighs preset overclock the GPU and memory profile by pressing one switch.

This button is found on the card bracket and although we do not know what the frequency of the two presets, considering the fact that the report recommends a 1GHz HD 6790 can last hours, and ColorFire track record, I expect the GPU to be clocked somewhere around 1050MHz.
Price Xstorm HD 6790 has been set at U.S. $ 167.8.
Regular HD 6790 has established operations in the frequency 840MHz for core and 4200MHz for 1GB of GDDR5 memory and 800 stream processors package, 40 texture units, 32 ROP units and 256-bit memory interface.
